The Blue Mountains are located to the west of Sydney, is one of the most accessible areas of highland natural beauty in New South Wales, Australia. Although not particularly high for a mountain range, the Blue Mountains is nonetheless renowned for its uniquely majestic scenery, for its cultural attractions, and for its relatively tranquil, alternative mode of life.

The Blue Mountains region was inscribed as a World Heritage Area by UNESCO in 2000.

The best way to get to Blue Mountains National Park is by train, you can buy a pass that includes the train and also an hop-on hop-off bus ticket. If you’re staying in the Blue Mountains your pass can be validated for up to 7 days – at no extra charge!. So it’s a good idea to stay a couple of nights at Blue Mountains, but remember to validate your ticket.

For great value and to fit more into your day, you can combine your tickets. You have the possibility to buy a Blue Mountains ExplorerLink ticket at any train station. It covers return Intercity train travel from Sydney, and also gives you all-day access to the famous red Explorer Bus.

Hop on the Explorer Bus at Katoomba Station for a circuit of 29 of the world-famous attractions that have given the Blue Mountains its reputation. The first Explorer Bus runs from Katoomba Station at 9.45am, and the last bus leaves at 5pm. Hop off at Leura or Katoomba for your train trip back to Sydney.
